Presentation of the training

The BTS Tourism is a training delivering a Bac+2 State diploma.

 

At Lycée Renan, students are located in the city center and have access to all the basic services inside the buildings: a self-catering area, computer stations, a CDI and paper resources, an infirmary, school life, as well as a connection to the Toutatice network.

The teachings of the BTS

The BTS Tourism includes both general and professional subjects, for a total of 31 hours per week.

Development of Tourism Services (EPT)

The EPT teaches various themes applied to the tourism sector such as marketing, law or business management.

Tourism Customer Relationship Management (GRCT)

The GRCT teaches students how to conduct building a relationship with customers, preparing sales pitches and booking flights and train tickets on professional coding software.

Tourism and Territories (TT)

Combining history and tourist geography, the TT teaches the development of territories in tourism in order to better know the world and its heritage.

Portable

Tourist Information Management (GIT)

This course teaches students to use digital tools to design a website, a video montage, an audio guide or a brochure.

Living Languages (LV1, LV2)

The LV1 English and LV2 Spanish or German allows students to progress in foreign languages for their course after the BTS.

General Culture and Expression (CGE)

This course teaches students to write personal expressions and summaries of documents, and to express themselves well in writing.

Professional workshops

3 hours per week, the students apply themselves to their search for an internship, to the design of projects or meet tourism professionals to carry out professional actions.

Internships and exams

In order to validate their years, BTS Tourism students must go through several stages:

Internships

Over the course of the two years, 14 weeks of internship in a professional environment are required.

 

These courses allow an immersion in the professional world of tourism and lead to the validation of skills in Tourist Customer Relations Management (GRCT) and Tourist Information Management (GIT).

Controls during training (CCF)

Each year, in addition to the usual assessments, students are checked during their training in order to validate their achievements in certain courses, by their teachers.

Events

The written and oral tests are prepared by mock exam sessions taking up the courses taken since the beginning of the training.

Mock and real exams take place in the first and second year.

The training lessons are compulsory but others, optional, can be passed in order to earn additional points.

Cours d'informatique

Pix and Voltaire certificates

During the training, certifications in IT (Pix) and spelling (Voltaire) are put in place.

Their preparation gives rise to hours of training.

 

The assessments last 2 hours and are recognized in CVs as validation of professional experience.

Travail

To integrate the training, certain qualities are appreciated:

 

  • Have computer skills

  • Know how to communicate

  • Have a good level in general culture

  • Be independent

  • To have team spirit

  • Master foreign languages

  • Be curious, motivated and hardworking

The section

An entire area of building A of the school is reserved for the tourism section. Students have 3 main rooms and a corridor shared with the staff room.

The hallway

This is where the student lockers are located. There is the common printer, armchairs, a kettle, brochures and tourist magazines as well as the dashboard with exam dates.

Computer rooms

A001 and A002

These are the two main rooms.

They are arranged for working on a computer or in a group and include a video projector and a whiteboard.

Classroom A003

This is the room used for lessons without the need for access to computer stations.

However, it has a few computers in the back, a video projector and a whiteboard.

A Tourism BTS allows a wide choice of outlets.

Students can, after obtaining their diploma, carry out further studies as well as integration into the professional world.

Travel agency

Customer relationship, sense of sale and argumentation are ideal for selling destinations

Cultural or natural heritage and even tourist park, a good guide welcomes, supervises and captivates his group

VISITOR CENTER

Propose activities and know a territory well to better inform tourists and communicate

International

At the airport, train station or abroad, the skills acquired will be very useful

Hotel

In hotel or camping, the hospitality sector is vast and brings many opportunities

Continuing Studies

Doing a license or another course in France or abroad can only be beneficial to deepen your knowledge of tourism.
